A fun project we took on last year – a planted roof using the versatile LiveRoof tile system. Using the dynamic and flexible system as a basis for the design, we custom tailored it to suit the home’s contemporary aesthetic. Small yet still capable of providing the traditional benefits of a planted roof – temperature regulation, rainwater buffer, and added green space. Divided systems on a total of 365 square feet of roof space contrast and enhance the modern angles and dark color of the house design. Different orientations and climate exposures were assisted by the integration of native species, using some of our regions most resilient and hardy specimens to naturalize throughout the sedum carpet. Height and interest were main considerations in our design and succeeded in being visible from the ground surrounding the home, when entering the driveway, as well as looking great from the interior vantage point. An integrated irrigation system and path accessible from the master bedroom makes this roof system easy to enjoy for the homeowner.
